As you can guess 2010 wasn't a very good year for me to start with due to my obtaining life threatening injuries in a car crash in February 2010, but towards the end everything started to come together with both my horses, especially Roxie's Dressage
(see bottom) and we couldn't wait for 2011 to begin!

24-04-10 - Nurstead BE Horse Trials - Still Learning - BE100 Plus
I was very excited after my accident to get Roxie back out and do a British Eventing Horse Trials so entered her for the BE100 Plus at Nurstead Horse Trials. She did a good dressage scoring 32 (which put her in the top few) she then had an unlucky two poles down Show Jumping but went fantastically round the Cross Country Course jumping clear. Unfortunately we did pick up 16 time faults because I was only running her steady so we were out of the placings but I was pleased with how she went and how I rode considering it was only was 10 weeks after my accident!!
Unfortunately after this event Roxie was eliminated at Borde Hill BE Horse Trials and we later found out that she had severely damaged her back and had to have 6 months off!!

Now I didn't quite know what to do.....I wanted to move on and put my accident behind me and get on with my life but my main event horse was severely injured. I then decided to start eventing Sabrina on a more serious note, although now looking back, that was not such a good idea, she wasn't ready for it and neither was I but we all learn from our mistakes don't we?!? Below are the results I obtained with Sabrina both with BE (British Eventing), The Pony Club and at Unaffiliated events:
May 2010 - Chilham Park Unaffiliated Horse Trials - Dress Sense - Novice
This was Sabrina's first ever event. She did a respectable Dressage and scored 39.5, although she spent more time looking at what the other horses were doing in their arenas than concentrationg on working herself!! Se jumped a good Show Jumping round, only getting 4 very unlucky faults for tapping an upright that was going down hill. Cross Country was really good, I only took her steady as it was all new to her but she did jump a lovely clear finishing just out of the placings in 11th.
12-06-10 - Berkshire College of Agriculture BE Horse Trials - Dress Sense - BE90
This was her first event registered with BE. She went reasonably well in the Dressage scoring 44.5. She then warmed up beautifully for the Show Jumping but unfortunately we were then eliminated at the second to last fence, a double. she had been having slight difficulties with doubles because she jumps the first part very big and then doesn't know whether to put in two short strides of one long stride, and in fairness to her my reaction speeds hadn't quite got back to their normal speed!!
19-06-10 - Stratford Hills BE Horse Trials - Dress Sense - BE90
This event was a week after Berkshire College, which did go so well, and we had been doing lots of double practice at home during the week which had gone well so I was slightly more hopefull. She did a better Dressage scoring 43, and then did a fantastic clear Show Jumping. The Cross Country Course was a very challenging course I felt for an Intro class and there were lots of fences with A, B and C's. She jumped very well but we did collect 40 penalties because in the water complex (Fences 9 A, B and C) and the Step Complex (Fences 16 A, B and C). I turned circles in between the B and C parts of both the fences collecting 20 penalties at each fence as I felt they were quite tight turns for an unexperienced horse. We also picked up 24.4 time faults but we were placed 24th out of an arena of >40, so i was pleased with her and felt we were making progress.....if very slowly!
July 2011 - Delmonden Farm - Pony Club Horse Trials - Dress Sense - Intermediate
This was not an event that I had planned on it going to but when my mum offered me a free diesel trip in the lorry because she was taking the children I soon changed my mind!!! Sabrina was very well behaved in the Dressage, scroing 33.5. She then jumped a good clear Show Jumping and went very nicely Cross Country, jumping clear. She finished on her Dressage score in 7th place.
10-07-10 - Tweseldown (2) BE Horse Trials - Dress Sense - BE90
We started of quite well, scoring a mark of 44 in the Dressage which put her about mid field, She then did a beautiful clear Show Jumping, with nice coments from the Judge about her technique. Then unfortunately we were eliminated Cross Country at a Ditch in the Coffin complex which she hasn't ever seen before when we've been XC schooling. So we went Cross Country schooling the next weekend and did lots of ditches and coffins type fences with her, which she soon understood and realised there was not a monster in the bottom of the ditch!
24-07-10 - Iping BE Horse Trials - Dress Sense - BE90
Again she started of very well, improving more on her Dressage and scoring 41.5 this time and with another lovely clear in the Show Jumping. We started of Cross Country very well, she was jumping everything very confidentally but then i let her down and missed out an Fence in the woods meanings we wre eliminated.....I was furious with myself when I got back a found out!! If any of you have been to Iping before you know how confusing the woods can be!!
18-08-10 - Chilham Park BE Horse Trials - Dress Sense - BE80T
For this event she did a really good dressage of 34.5 and again a good clear Show Jumping. Cross Country she went very well again and I remembered all my fences this time!! We did however pick up 20 penalties at the Step up to the skinny as she jumped up the step awkwardly leaving me with no option but to circle her before jumping the 'B' part of the fence. We only picked up 2 time faults because of this circle and finished on 56.5 in 18th place out of an arena of >35.
September 2010 - Chilham Park East Kent Hunt PC Horse Trials - Dress Sense - Intermediate
This was a very nice day, the Intermediate class was run over the Intro Course Cross Country. She did an outstanding Dressage scoring 28, it still wasn't as nice as she can do but the judge could see her potential for the future which is promising. She jumped a fantastic clear Show Jumping, and went superbly Cross Country jumping clear inside the time finishing 6th out of an arean of 37....finally we got a rosette!!
02-10-10 - Borde Hill Unaffiliated Horse Trials - Dress Sense - Intro (BE90)
She did a good Dressage but when I went to look at the score she got 44.5 which I wasn't very pleased with, especially after her scoring 28 at Chilham! But then I looked down the board and all the scores were quite high. She had an unlucky 4 faults Show Jumping which I didn't even know about until I finished so I guess she can't of hit the pole that hard!! Cross Country was really good, she was covering the ground well and making good progress until we had a slight slip up shall we say......I got her slightly too close to fence A of the two angled hedges meaning she cantered straight past the B fence! Still we completed and finished 14th out of an arena of >25.
16-10-10 - Tweseldown Unaffiliated Horse Trials (3) - Dress Sense - Intro
Off we went for our last event of the season....surely it was all going to come together now!?! We got a very respectable Dressage score of 35.5 putting her in the top ten....YAYY!! She then did a fantastic clear Show Jumping, pushing us up the leaderboard even further, so out on the Cross Country course we had it all to play for. Excpet I think Sabrina picked up on excitement as she was rather cheeky and wouldn't stand in the start box properly, and when we set of she turned into a racing Whippet chasing a Hare!! So much so that at Fence 5 an angled log she was fighting me quite a bit and didn't even get chance to see it so we picked up 20 penalties for a stop there. From here I made her go at my speed, pushing her faster and asking her to collect when I wanted her to which worked very well. I did also turn a circle in between the Coffin complex so she had plenty of time to see the ditch meaning I picked up another 20 penalties. We finished 26th out of arena of >40 so, although it wasn't exactly the result I wanted to finish the 2010 event season on, I was pleased with how she had behaved and knew what needed to be worked on over the winter!
21-11-10 - Cobham Manor British Dressage - Still Learning
Novice 34 WRQ - 67.50% (4 points) - 3rd Place
Elementary 53 WRQ - 63.53% (2 points) - 2nd Place
I took Roxie to Cobham after joining her with BD so I could concentrate on her Dressage giving her back plenty of time to recover before I started jumping her again, but not bad results for her first competition in 7 months!!
