We have had a very busy few days recently with lots of training and competitions with a variety of horses! First was an afternoon of me coaching at Saddlesdane Equestrian Centre followed by an evening of jump training my too before the show that was there on Sunday! Both Roxie and Milli both jumped really well and although a little excited to be out they just about managed to behave themselves! I am getting so excited about Milli's future as she jumped like a star in training and made a 1.10m course feel like a 75cm course! It is so handy having somewhere nearby that holds course hire evenings and a great chance to get the horses out and about! After a day at home on the Friday our weekend of competing started on Saturday at Plum Pudding Equestrian Centre. We took Hector to his first competition and he was such a good boy! I have been riding Hector recently as his owner, Jade has had her appendix out so is unable to ride! Hector is an ex-racehorse who will hopefully be out eventing this year! We just did a walk and trot test with him and although there is still lots to work on he performed a great test to score 59% and WIN!! He has now qualified for the Hickstead Horse Feeds Championships in April along with Roxie and Milli so that will be a bus wekend! With a very early start on Sunday we were back at Saddlesdane for their British Sjowjumping show. It has been quite a while since I jumped affiliated so was really looking forward to it! I jumped the British Novice on Milli and although she got the fastest time in the jump of we picked up 4 faults which put us in 4th place, still a pleasing result. I then jumped the Discovery on her and this was the biggest track she has jumped out competing and she is a big horse to navigate around a 20m x 60m arena so we did unfortunately pick up 4 faults for lowering a rail. Just a baby mistake that hopefully she will learn from for next time. I jumped the 1.05m class on Roxie too and this was her first jump competition since the season ended so she was very excited to be back out again! We did unfortnately have a refusal quite early on in the course but after this we both got our act together and she jumped a super round...I think we were both a bit out of sync! So, after a busy weekend competing we had a quiet day at home yesterday and the horses were all very pleased with the slight improvement in the weather as they have been enjoying some time out in the fields. We have a weekend at home this weekend but we are out at various competitions and training sessions next week and next weekend, including my next lesson with Leanne Wall at Cobham Manor which we are very much looking forward to with Roxie!
