One word......WOW!!!

WOW was, like many other riders who try these
saddles the first word that came to mind when trying my horses in these amazing saddles. The transformation in their way of going was immediate and incredible. They worked so much softer over their backs, powering more from behind with every stride. It was noticed with Milli how much her canter stride increased, more ground covering and uphill! They also felt much happier to work forward with having much more freedom over their back than that offered by the traditional English saddle.

I have always struggled with keeping Milli forward when working on the flat but now she has more freedom over back and under the saddle she is a lot more forward going! So much so that now I'm having to back of a bit with my legs or she ends up rushing which is something I never thought I'd say about her! Now she is working so much more over her back we have been able to progress with her flatwork much quicker and start doing some more advanced movements too. We started work on counter canter before the change to a WOW saddle but she always struggled to remain balanced and kept doing flying changes to the correct canter lead. With the WOW saddle on there have been no flying changes when working on counter canter at all!!!! She feels so much more balanced and uphill in these great saddles and she is coming on in leaps and bounds!

Picture
My instructor, Jan commented that the change of saddle had brought her forward 6 months with her flatwork. I my lesson last week we were able to work on movements that Jan was aiming to be doing at the start of the event season next year!! It has taken me a while to get used to her much improved way of going as her strides have lengthened enormously. It is amazing how much a simple change of saddle can improve their way of going! Roxie is back in work now after her little break and is doing some more advanced flatwork moves and her transformation is just a good. She has always had a very good medium trot stride but we have struggled to get her to work over her back but in a WOW saddle she feels like a dressage horse now, only downside is I'm really struggling to sit to her trot now she is working more over her back!! Looking forward to getting both horses out to dressage competitions over the winter to see what the judges think and hopefully better scores!!

If any of you in the Kent area are interested in these WOW saddles then please PM me as we have a demo day next Thursday (31st October) where a range of WOW Dressage, GP and Jump saddles are being fitted to a variety of horses and ponies! Milli is having a jump saddle fitted and I am very excited to see the improvement in her jump with this saddle as she has a very correct way of jumping naturally so we are all very interested to see the improvements with a WOW saddle on!!

SG Eventing
is very proud to have been asked to work alongside such a well known company. Lets look forward to many exciting seasons ahead of us in our WOW Saddles :)
If you see us out and about and would like to know more about these wonderful saddles then please come up and ask, no question is too small or silly :) First competition outing
with WOW Saddles is on the 30th October, Dressage @ Blue Barn Equestrian Centre so come up and say 'HI'.

What a great way to end the season with Milli.....

I have been going to South of England International BE Horse Trials for many years and it has to be one of my favourite events as it is always run so smoothly and the courses are great! Milli did her first BE100 at SofE back in April and after very consistent runs at this level throughout the year I decided to make the big step up and run her Novice.....I was very nervous as I didn't want to over face Milli at her young age of just 5 years old but she, once again amazed us all.....
Picture
We have been working very hard on her flatwork for SofE as there was more advanced movements in the novice test that she hasn't done before like medium trot and canter. She performed a good test considering her age to score 39.0
plus we got very positive comments from the judge!

Picture
On to the SJ and it was by far the biggest track we have ever jumped together.
It looked like it was riding well so in we went.....Milli jumped really well. We
did come out with an unfortunate eight faults, one pole by the gate where she
lost attention slightly and the second pole was where she mis read the width of
a spread as they are considerably wider than BE100 fences!!

Picture
On to the XC and this was the bit I was looking forward to the most although I knew it was going to be a big ask. I walked the course on arrival very carefully, taking all the 'long routes' into consideration. I saw carefully, I had to run, no sprint, round as we got stuck in traffic on the M25, like many other riders did after an accident closing some lanes, which resulted in us arriving later than planned!! Anyway, back to our XC round and Milli was AWESOME!!!! She flew round the track, taking all the direct routes and making it all feel so easy!! I didn't hurry her and we came home with 13.6 time faults which turned out to be quite fast and only one in the arena made it inside the time so I was chuffed with her. We finished in 23rd place out of a very big arena of over 40 competitors!!

Check out Milli's Competition Gallery for more pictures and a video from SofE and also check out Ultimate Images Sponsorship page as Paul got lots of great pics.....

Some more great news is that Roxie is now coming back into work after 'pratting' about in the field and basically spraining her fetlock......silly horse, she does all this eventing yet manages to hurt herself chilling in the field!!! Although we are just doing walk work at the moment, she feels  and is looking great, if not a little fat and fluffy!

Now the eventing season is finished for us at SG Eventing things would normally calm down a bit but not this year. Milli is going from strength to strength at the moment so she will only have a short holiday to wind down before working on our dressage and SJing over the winter. There is also some very exciting sponsorship news coming soon as SG Eventing have been approached and asked to work alongside a very well known saddler company so keep your eyes peeled to find out who..........
