Why I crashed into a double decker bus on black ice, I may never know but I really do beleive in the saying 'everything happens for a reason.....'
Two weeks ago I received the unexpected news that I was being made redundant!! I have been on the look out over the past few months for a new position but just couldn't decide what to do! I spent a week searching for more positions and found a few horse related positios that I liked the look of but I didn't want my horses to be put to the end of a busy days work on someone elses yard. After much thought and note making whilst at meetings with the bank etc. I came up with the decision to become self employed and am very pleased to introduce you to my business SGEventing :) I now have spaces to take horses in to be schooled, broken in, competed or to be produced and sold on. I am also available to do more private teaching, so if you would like some additiona help then please do not hesitate to Contact me to talk about your requirements. Back to the horses and how eveything is going......after Nurstead was cancelled at the end of Apil Roxie hadn't been out eventing for 7 weeks so at Tweseldown (2) on the 18th May, I was expecting her to be slightly fresh! A few days before we went to Tweseldown she came into season so I knew she was going to be a challenge as when she is in season she can be very oppinionated to say the least! She did and OK dressage, she didn't relax as much as I would have liked.....I think she was easer to go XC!! She scored 37.3 which put us mid-field in the section we were in. I entered the Intermediate Novice class at Tweseldown as I am hoping to move up to Intermediate level in the near future! After a quick change of tack we set of to do the SJ, which I was slightly nervous for as Tweseldown always build the SJ courses up-to-height and technical with rather tight times! There were a few riders picking up time faults so I went in with an attacking canter which made the round go very quickly! Unfortunately we did have 3 down, 2 which were slightly my fault as I had a rather forward canter but one was just Roxie being , umm Roxie!! There was 3 short strides from a triple bar to an upright and when I said 'wait' Roxie just ignored e so got a bit too close....little madam! XC was pretty much the same course as the March 2012 XC with just a few more combinations and angles. We set of out of the start box at a good pace but Roxie soon took hold and decided she was boss!! Due to her going, lets just say 'at her own speed....' we picked up 20 penalties in a combination of skinnies as I couldn't make the turn! Although this wasn't the best run as we begin to move up to the next level, I was very pleased with how confident she was in the SJ as this has been our weakest phase since my accident! Hopefully, with a new bit for XC so I have some control our next run will be great :) Roxie is next out eventing at Eridge on Saturday 2nd June, so if your there feel free to come and say 'hello' to us! On Sunday 20th May we went to Barville Farm Show to SJ Milli and Tiffany. I wanted to SJ Milli on grass before our first one day event next weekend (on the 27th May) at Chilham Park. Tiffany is the latest addition to the 'four legged' team of SGEventing. She is with us to be produced with the aim of my youngest sister, Sophie taking her on next year. Both jumped super rounds in there classes and Tiffany was 5th in the 80cm! This was Tiffany's first ever time SJ and the only other outings she has had have been hunting so we were so pleased with how well she behaved. Milli didn't get a place unfortunately as I got a bit too competitive in the jump off and turned a bit too tight so she had the fence down! I was chuffed with how they both went though :) Since being made redundant I have been incredibly busy teaching and riding and also have more horses under my care which is keeping me occupied! This weekend we are out at Chilham Park with Milli doing her first ever event and both my sister are also competing, as well as quite a few of my Clients so it's going to be a very busy day! We were at Mrs Fox-Pitt's on Tuesday 22nd May doing a bit of XC schooling With Tiffany and Tia. Tia belongs to one of my Clients and can be a little madam at times!! Both jumped superbly and Jade, Tia's owner, also juped her aorund over some of the fences reall Please click on the following links for pictures and videos taken whilst competing at Tweseldown with Roxie and Barville Farm with Milli and Tiffany.
